Joe Hess, MPH, CSP, is a seasoned environmental, health, safety, and sustainability leader with over 9 years of experience directing EH&S programs in the life sciences sector, notably at Gilead Sciences. Holding credentials as both a Master of Public Health and a Certified Safety Professional, he spearheads cross-functional initiatives to promote sustainable practices, drive waste-reduction partnerships, and enhance safety culture. Hess is deeply involved in the San Diego environmental community—regularly supporting Industrial Environmental Association (IEA) events, ESG and Hazmat committee meetings, and student scholarship programs.
